Becoming a member of a local church is an important step of obedience for every follower of Jesus. In part, church membership is how you identify with others as a follower of Christ, and it is how you participate in accountability with other followers of Christ. If you are interested in beginning the membership process at Edgewood, or you have questions about membership, we would love to talk more with you!
Before becoming a member of a local church, Scripture requires two things: a testimony of regeneration, and baptism by immersion. A testimony of regeneration is your salvation story. It is your story of how you came to the place in your life where you recognized that you were a sinner in need of saving. And your recognition that it is only through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus that we can be saved. Baptism is then the means by which you publicly profess your salvation. If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus or you have not been baptized by immersion, we would love to help you take that next step!
To begin the membership process at Edgewood you can contact Pastor Tucker directly to let him know that you are interested in membership. Or you may express your interest at the end of one of our worship services. At this point, you will become a candidate for membership.
All candidates for membership will meet with Pastor Tucker. This meeting will be a time to get to know you and to hear more of your salvation story. Pastor Tucker will explain what it means to be a member of Edgewood, including the privileges and responsibilities of membership. It will also be a time for you to ask any other questions that you might have.
